Samoas or Thin Mints?

samoa.jpgI LOVE this time of year! Not because spring is slowly starting to appear, not because it's almost daylight savings time, and not because it's almost my birthday-I stopped being excited about that after 25. Then why, you ask, is this time of year so special? It's because the first week of March always means one thing: The Girl Scouts are out in force!

I missed out on being a girlscout, I quit mid-way through Brownies, so I never had the experience of selling cookies in front of a grocery store or going door-to-door. Thankfully, there are still thousands of Girl Scouts out there to ensure that I get my yearly dose of Samoas. Now I know you are thinking "Samoas, really? Thin Mints are where it's at". Yes, I love the Thin Mint as well, but I grew up on those-and only discovered the Samoa later in life, so they are still a novelty for me.

Support your local Girl Scouts, eat cookies!

I can never say "No" to them. Being a jr girl scout and brownie myself, I always buy in bulk. And yes, the samoa is still my fav! (although freezing your thin mints can be delicious as well. . .)

Hey Belli ladies, couldn't pass up this post! I just received my Girl Scout order and am lovin it. I teach piano to a Ukranian girl who is a girl scout and you are right, there is no way turning them down! But what is up with the new names? Thin Mints are still the same but no more Samoas, they are Carmel Delites. All the others are different too. They will always be Samoas to me and those have been my favs, hands down!
Anyways, you ladies do a great job! I am big fan of Belli!

Hi Jackie-
Thanks for your note!
Actually, I learned something yesterday-the names of the cookies are dependent on the part of the coutnry you are in. They have two bakeries- Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers. The names are specific to the bakery in which they are made! In WA, we still have Samoas. I'm such a creature of habit, I don't know what I'd do if the names changed here on the west coast!

Really? That is really strange. You know what is weird? I could have sworn they tasted slightly different but that could've been me. They were not as crisp but just as yummy so I didn't think twice about it. Maybe you should have one of your girl scouts come out to Illinois!

Jackie, I think you might have a little gift coming your way...

Will it be the cause of an increase or decrease in pants size? :)
